Everyone likes a house that smells good, but store bought air fresheners can get quite expensive when you’re buying them all the time. Plus, they’re filled with chemicals that just aren’t good for our health. For those reasons, I’ve compiled a list of 6 simple hacks that are all natural and will make your house smell fantastic for a long time.
#1 – Oranges and Cloves
This is called a Pomander, and all you need for this is an orange and some whole cloves. Place the cloves into the orange in a pretty design, and it will leave your house smelling good for a long time.
#2 – Coffee Beans and a Tea Light Candle
All you need to do is put the coffee beans into a bowl and place a tea light candle in the center. As the tea light burns, the coffee beans will create a delicious scent throughout your house.
#3 – Simmering Pots
Mix a few different kinds of fruit together with some water and leave it to simmer and your whole house will smell amazing in no time. Find out more about how to do this at thecottagemarket.com
#4 – Homemade Lilac Room Spray
For this you will need water, vodka, and lilac essential oil. You simply add equal parts vodka and water, and then add about 12 drops of the lilac essential oil. Find out more at atthepicketfence.com
#5 – Furnace Filter and Essential Oils
Pick out your favorite essential oil and put a few drops of it on your furnace filter. Then when your heat kicks on, it will push the scent through your house and make it smell good.
#6 – Dried Flower Potpourri
Using an assortment of your favorite flowers, cut the stems off and place them on cooling racks. Then pop them in the oven on its lowest setting and bake them for about an hour-and-a-half. Find out more at madeinaday.com
